Hey girls, sorry for missing land training on Saturday. Anyone mind telling me what you all did, so that I can make up for it on my own?

By the way, I didn't even realise that you all were training in school! Didn't even see ANY of you. Amazing huh. Anyway Council Selection Camp was like !@#$%^& tiring so hrm I hope you all don't mind if I take abit more time to finish all the PT that you did on Sat. ^^

CHEH YOU ALL DIDN'T TRAIN ON SATURDAY, IT WAS FRIDAY. So tell me what you all did on Friday :D

HIIIIIIIIIII.

I have been neglecting my own personal blog! So nice of me to blog here! LOL jk jk.
ok i'm posting at 2 blogs at once, so retarded.

Erm, glad that karyee and ting an came for training although they were injured?
Anw, I am seriously weak la. At least weaker than before the comp. I am aching all over. For the first time my sides are aching from bridge. I think it's cause I haven't done it for quite long.

Night training.. Those must have been the best stern turns I've ever done. Though they may not be good. Lol duno la. I scared next training go down cannot do liao -.- haha. I can't dip. Hm.

Land training.. Relays. Only 3 sets and my muscles are aching, luckily we didn't do the usual pt. :S

Err. Nothing much.
Mr Sim used up most of my recess time, talking to me about stuff. Actually I think he's quite reasonable now? Miraculously he didn't mention anything about other water sports.

Basically, the only way that we can have more pool slots is to show that the whole CCA comes for training regularly. That means at least 80 or 90% attendance for every training, regardless of whether it's land or pool. That means that we need everyone's help to get those pool slots. Because if we can't get the attendance then it's difficult to ask the school to allow for more slots.

Minimally, we will have one pool slot a week. But we have enough budget for 2 pool slots a week for term 4. However, whether we do get the slot or not depends on:
#1: Availability of the pool
#2: Availability of coach (HF may be working for another job? If so, we may be getting another coach..)
#3: Whether Ms Lim/Mr Sim is free. (It's not very nice to keep bothering other teachers to come down and look after our CCA. And we don't really have a valid excuse to do so. And it's the school policy to have at least one teacher with us so we can't help that either.)
#4: Our attendance (Since this is the only thing we can control, I really hope that most ppl will go down for training..)

That's all if I remember correctly. So now we have to psycho each other + freshies + ?? to go down for training..
Jiayousssssss.

A long pep post

15 posts in... say... a week? That's like "population boom" haha.

Anyway, I'm here to blog about some reflections that came to my mind.

You know sometimes, some of our team people may seem or appear to be very aloof, or unmotivated, or maybe they just put canoe polo as a less important priority because of certain reasons.

Since we're girls, one thing that we're very different from the guys is that we are more capable of being nice and less capable of being harsh.

Truth to be told, sometimes a little pep talking would be good, reminding everyone to "buck up"!!! To be serious, to work harder. It works for a team full of really motivated team members.

But what happens if there just seems to be a few who are like lost sheep? Do you get mad/annoyed at them more easily than usual?

Actually, what they need is genuine support from you girls. Just imagine if some people miss training for some time, and when they go back for CCA, people are blaming them for not going for training. It is true that they have the responsibility to go for trainings, but it will instead turn out to be a vicious cycle if they feel unwelcomed, and do not want to go for trainings even more.

If we can all change perspectives, and be brimming full of encouragements for these people, it will definitely have a more positive effect. The team will also be more bonded and have more rapport.

Maybe we can start simply by asking "hey what happened to you today? how come you were not at training? are you okay?" & if they give a reply showing that they are really sian, then it's time to give some encouragement, like "we really hope you can come back and join us! you're important to the team." I'm sure every girl has something that other girls can learn, that's why everyone is valuable, nobody is dispensable.

It is this mutual support that is the foundation of the whole team, if not the team would just break up into cliques and the lost sheep will be even more lost. Reach out your hand to them, maybe they will not take it at first, but be persistent!! It does not take much to just lend them a listening ear or give them words of encouragement. They will think around it one day. One great way would also be to ask them to join in informal, mini training sessions like ball passing and going to the gym. Great way to bond.

(I remember once I went to the gym and WeiTieng & Jiayi were very happy 'cos they said they'll have one more buddy to gym with on Tuesdays. Although I didn't go to the gym anymore after that, what they said did make me feel appreciated.)

I have to admit that I am actually one of the people who lost motivation along the way. Wanyu, Magneline and some others never stopped encouraging me. It is really because of their undying faith in me that made me persevere on even though I found it increasingly difficult near the end. That's why I typed this reflection, because I hope that you girls can give lost sheep like me a hand.

Of course, for the lost sheep, if you feel that you are one, do try to go down for trainings whenever you can. I'm sure they still hope for you to be there to continue to fight with them hand in hand. Don't skip trainings if you can help it, you know that people are counting on you too!! While you may still want your teammates to have faith and hope in you, you must play your part well too =)

All in all, LOVE is very important. It really defines the team as a team. (Personal responsibility is important too)

PERSEVERE!!! =)

p.s. sorry if this post is kinda messy but i hope you girls get what i'm trying to say~
HEY GIRLS!

Are you all free after Sports day to go out for a CP girls outing? :D (Like you know...EVERYONE.. and just like half of us :P ) We can go Holland V to Frolick and eat Cold Rock too!! Then maybe head towards Ting An's house for Karaoke session. Or we can go Kbox. Or we can KOI :D

Comment to state if you're free yeah! :D

Un

Okay! I shall do my first ''reflection''

YOG Canoe Kayak was quite cool :D I would say it exceeded my expectations even though it got boring after a while. And we didn't even get to watch finals! Just lousy preliminaries &$*#&$*#)# But oh wells, it was an eye-opener and it's kinda like once in a life time anyway.

Aaaand, there were entertainments like false starts (seriously, does anyone know what happened to that pair?) and some guy capping and ejecting (I missed it!! Why ah?!?) ): Plus, there was this awesome volunteer who was super friendly and helpful HEHEHEHE.

Anyway, YAAAAY, I'm glad Singapore made it past round 1 :D

I don't know why those cute little kids are so interested in Russia xD But but WanYu, TingAn and I took a picture with one of the Russian Canoeists!!! And quite a number of other canoeists from other countries :D :D :D

(I WATCHED DIVING AFTER CANOE KAYAK AND IT WAS THE BEST MAN. SERIOUSLY. WE SHOULD ALL HAVE GONE AND WATCHED DIVING)

I think sprinting with the guys is a good idea. Because I like sprinting HAHAHA. And it does help I guess, since I've tried before.

P.S Jiayi, if you keep ponning the cca frequently enough, they won't be too happy to keep you HAHA. Tested and proven.

Night training (Y) 25/8/2010

Went for night training today. Its damn late now and i'm quite tired so this will be short.

We did boat skills - stern turns. Although i still cannot do a proper one, i think it is better than last time already? Today was bad for me cos i'm having gastric pains the whole night T.T

But i think if i go down for more night trainings, i'll be able to do very nice stern turns like STANLEY's one by the end of this year! :D

Jiayou jiayou everyone! (:

Thankyou stanley and stuart! :D

Looking forward to the next night slot! (:

Night Training 25082010

I'll keep it short, loads of work to do.

Night training is good for practising boat skills because we have awesome teachers like Stanley and Stuart! Yaaaaaaaay. Today I feel like I made some improvement on my stern turn. I will probably finally master it if I go down for more night trainings! So that's what I'll do.

Lesson learnt: More trainings are always good for you.

YOG

The weather was damn hot today!! I think the most interesting thing that happened at the YOG thingie is how the  primary school kids cheered for Singapore and Russia LOL. They seem to like Russia a lot.. hmm.

I think the saddest thing that happened is the guy who ejected out of his boat. LOL. Didnt see him cap though. He'll probably be damn emo after that x_x

Uh. Dont know what else to post.

Anyway, i hope everyone will post something after every training that you went okay? This way, we can keep the blog alive and keep track of what we think/do so that maybe like one month later, we can look back and see how much we improved etc. If we make this a habit, we won't find it very mafan or what to post after every training. I think it's for our own good? Haha.

Jiayou everyoneeeeee. I CAN'T GO FOR FRI LAND TRAINING COS OF CO >:( I hope CO kicks me out soon manz ):

reflections from da comp

hey girls! here's my reflections from nat champs.. last comp ): (or maybe not.. hmm.)

Problems that we had:
-> Lack fitness
can consider sprinting with guys next time, it helps.
-> Basic boat skills
hmm, night slots, or during breaks in training, or games when we're not playing. there are many times when we can actually practice stern turns, dips, bracing, ball handling etc.
-> Passing: Know your range, control your passes, hand-to-hand.
Land passing! Take the initiative to organize passing sessions like last yr? Perhaps every wed&fri morning? STUART RETURN ME MY BALL!
-> Defense: Zone very weak, too late in taking opponents, communication
-> Attack: Lack coordination, reaction too slow, never reset early, never look out for other options
Takes practice + fitness. Psycho yourselves so that you remember all these AT ALL TIMES
-> Lack mental readiness
Psycho yourself before every match, remind yourself what to take note off. Talk to your teammates, encourage & remind each other.
-> Confidence
I guess it's similar to the previous point.
-> Man marking: Never apply what we know (i.e. constant movement; move across each other, so that can shield opponents away from each other; know when to spread out & support)
Yep, this needs lots of practice+fitness too. Can do during night training like the other time too.

Hmm, next yr ntu 3-on-3 cannot send junior team leh! Unless we recruit a few more girls now, and then they can train with cheryl and join in jan. if not, lack in training leh. =/ should befriend yr2 & 3 junior girls naooo!

Train hard, and i'm sure the girls team will become better and better! (: It's hard to find a team of 5 or more that start off at the same time. Since you girls all joined together, if you all progress as a whole, the team will be able to perform next year! try to get as many intake next yr haha..

-wanyu (:
lol harloz.

don't really know what to post.

didn't do much today.

anw, i do hope that everyone can train hard because whats the point of being in the team if you dont? this is not a recreation sport as you should know. if the seniors can get a 2nd placing, why cant we? it might not seem possible right now but i believe that with some effort and determination, we can. yup.

i dunno why our nat champs is different from spcpoc but i think we should stick to how we played for spcpoc for future comps. the starting 5 will play as long as possible or something similar to how the senior team plays. cause at least we didnt get last then.

before the nat champs hf said that we should start winning games alr.
but we didnt and that is something that has to change.

i used to think that the seniors were 'too serious', but now its different, its some ppl are are 'not serious enough'. i.e. pls take training seriously and don't waste your time here.

jiayous.
To get better,
must improve core, stamina and STRENGTHHHH ohyea let's go let's HARDCOREEEE.

Endorphins shall be our new drug ;)

& not forgetting love for everyone in the team eheheheehehhe

Reflections 23082010

Schuper excited about training today but it started to thunder while I was reaching the pool and then I realised the lightning alert had gone off even before I arrived... :(

But maybe these little things are blessings in disguises, because the whole team used to take so many things for granted. Our equipment, and then we lost 2 Bracs; our teacher in charge, and then we got 2 newer teacher in charges; our poolslots, and then we stopped having so many of them. We should be appreciative of what we have and TREASURE ALL OUR OPPORTUNITIES. (Oh my god I sound like a textbook.)

After which we all proceeded to the freaking hot basketball court to do our pushups. I spent the whole time doing the 100 pushups trying to recall the last time I actually did 100 pushups. Up till now I still don't remember. It's been ages since we've noticed all these little details, but I think those are what will help us improve and become more worthy of being called Canoe Polo players. So instead of making the distinction between guys and girls, can we all try to perform to the guys standards for our subsequent land trainings say, after the exams? We'll do guy pushups and try pullups instead of inclined.

Oh and let's do running. Fartlek. I find it helpful for stamina luh, not sure about you all. The standard must be higher though, like striding must really stride and even jogging is not supposed to be super slow walking speed. Wanna try it out?

ON A FINAL NOTE, LET'S ALL AIM TO DO AT LEAST 3 PULLUPS BY THE END OF THIS YEAR. GO GIRLS WE KNOW WE CAN DO IT ;D

Reflections 23/8/2010

I'm happy that i could make it for training today cos it sort of cheered me up! :D But the weather isn't very good ): i didnt even get to go down to the water at all! Rawrrr.

Did 100 pushups because we didnt keep the equipments properly. Isit? And another 50 because the loudness and counting wasnt uniform enough. I think my arms will ache tomorrow but it feels damn shiok after doing that 150 :D

Did loads of ball passing. And then it rained.

Hopefully the weather will be better during the next training! (:

Oh and thankyou mag for uploading the videos! :D I saw how she capped!! LOL.

Wed night slot (25 Aug 8.30pm)

Anyway!

Since we have 8 vamps, and stanley, gene and stuart will take 3 boats, we're left with 5. We can borrow 5 acros from NUS so those whose names are not here and wanna come use acro? So its first come first serve! Its not compulsory but if you're free then come and join us! (: Make sure you finish your homework first!

1. Jiayi
2. Weitieng
3. Magmagmag
4. Cheryl
5.

You can edit this post and put your name here haha (:

(L)

HOLY GOD. I never knew you girls loved me so much, BLITZ is an AWESOME NAME. I'm a Bejeweled addict. HAHAHA THANKS :D

Don't want Peanut Butter Jelly Sandwiches luh it's so long! Blitz is gonna be the next Espada hahahaha because our name is so simple and we're gonna HARDCORE much! LET'S ALL JIAYOU GIRLS :D

And I don't know who did the layout but thanks manzxs I love purple.
Third to post! :D :D :D D:D :D :D

I think we can call ourselves Peanut Butter Jelly Sandwiches since it was the name we used for 3v3 haha. Good!?!?!?

Blitz reminds me of bejeweled blitz so, sorry no please xD

Whoever's free can change the blogskin to smthg brighter!! :D :D :D :D

Bye for now :D :D :D

Suggestion for team name

LETS CALL OURSELVES BLITZ!

It means lighting in german and its definition in english is "attack suddenly and without warning" ??

Hahahaaaaaaaaaa

HELLOOOO!

Hello! I am very bored so i suddenly thought of making a CP girls blog! :D The other CP blog is very dead but hopefully we'll keep this one alive hahaha :D

Anyway, we can post stuff like debriefs from hengfoo & jackson so that those who cannot make it for trainings wont miss out anything esp the tactics that we're playing! And hmm we can post like reflections after trainings / comp (if you all want haha). And there's the training dates and our goals on the side! Pleaseeee think of what you want to achieve by when, and add it there! (: Then we'll see what we achieved by the end of the year or month or anything haha.

Oh if you all want, can someone add a tagboard (cbox or anything :D)? Or if we're all lazy then we can just post on the blog to communicate :D

And and! STANLEY teo has volunteered to teach us personal skills like DIPS and STERN TURNS if we go down on wednesday night slots! So if we're free then let's go down on wed night? Although nat champs is over, its never too late to train! :D

And and he said that our whole team is weak! ): And hengfoo always say we're not fit enough blah blah. Soooo, to prove them wrong, land training is VERY IMPORTANT. haha. Hopefully everyone can come for land training if you can make it.

And and and! i think we should think of a team name! NUS High girls sounds very -_- haha. Then we can change the name of this blog! :D and LOL the url too. It can be named after our team when we decide on one :D

Oh and whether you all want to keep this locked or open, let me know k? (: And paiseh the template not very nice. I try to add everyone as admin then you all come edit okay? :D

Hopefully everyone will contribute to this blog and we will all train REALLLLL hard and be a stronger team during the next comp! (: Being the last during every nat champs doesnt sound very nice ): hahaha.

JIAYOU EVERYONE! :D
